IPs hosted with Manna Hut are shared IP addresses. This is normal. Hundreds or thousands of web sites are often grouped together on the same server and under the same IP (internet Protocol) for effiency. Web sites hosted on the same server have a "Shared IP Address". Under most circumstances, having a shared IP address is irrelevant and will not affect a web site in any way. Most web site owners will not need a dedicated IP address and little will be gained by obtaining one.

However, web sites that are larger with higher traffic statistics and sites such as, e-commerce sites, may require a dedicated IP address. A web site that requires security via SSL encryption will need a dedicated IP address.

The benefits of a dedicated IP address are;

1. Allows for faster server response time during high site traffic periods.

2. FTP access with only the IP address.

3. Web site location and viewing via the IP address.

4. SSL security.

To obtain a dedicated IP for your account please note the following.

Only one (1) dedicated IP address is allowed per domain name. Dedicated IPs can only be issued to the primary domain name associated with your account. Dedicated IPs cannot be set up with add on domains. Allow 24-48 hours for the IP set up. During that period of time expect unusual behavior with your site as it at times may appear to be down as the site resolves and propogates. You will not need to update or change nameservers (DNS).

The price of a dedicated IP address is $2.50 per month.
